Critical Objective – Protect Obama

Make no mistake about it, Obama is going to win the Presidency and with the victory comes the urgency to keep him alive. I think it is illegal for Vegas to place odds on such atrocities, like assassinations, but if they did I would imagine those odds would make any decent person cringe.
Stories are already circulating of increased KKK activity, possible attempts on his life (as featured on my2bucks) and it’s only going to get worse if Obama is realized as President this November. There are a lot of disenfranchised people in this country who feel their comeuppance is being stolen by anyone who isn’t a member of their group. The KKK is a prime example of a group of individuals who want someone to blame for their own short comings in life, so they gravitate to a group and it’s far easier to express hatred when you are protected by a symbol of that group. Anyone member of the KKK, or other domestic terrorist group would love to involved in the assassination of Obama. What happens if Obama becomes President and is assassinated?
Remember the riots which took place in LA following the Rodney King verdict? Imagine that reaction multiplied by 49 other states and you have all the ingredients for a full scale race war. When a member of your own race, or team, or family for that matter ascends to a level not seen before, it is only normal for that group to feel legitimized by their association with that individual and if you take that away, boom!
This country is not ready for an African American President, but we are going to have one, so I hope those vowed to protect the President are ready for anything. Obama is viewed as having terrorist ties, an illegal immigrant sympathizer, a socialist and a converted Muslim, any one of which can drive an unstable individual to an unthinkable act.
My father is in his late sixties and other folks his age still harbor resentment towards Texas for being the state where JFK was murdered. If you are an African American and Obama is murdered by a Caucasian, how deep will that level of resentment go and will the country ever recover from such a catastrophe? It is one thing to blame an entire state for a murder, but entirely different when you can sit across from a stranger, co-workers, or even a friend and blame their race for one. I worry for Obama, his family, America, Democracy, race relations and the World at large should Obama become President and not live through his Presidency.

[...] Barack Obama would be wise to learn from the mistakes of President Bush and though there were many, in my opinion the greatest was moving to close to the middle and alienating his core support group on the right. In trying to be a President who ‘reached across the aisle’, it was never far enough to the left to sway Democrat support and worlds away from the right which pissed off Republicans. [...]
